Today we are continuing our vegan burger series (check out our latest blog posts), where we try vegan burgers you can find at your local grocery store. This time, we will be sharing our experiences with Hilary's vegan burgers! The coolest thing about these vegan burgers is that they are free from common allergens (they are corn free, gluten free, nut free, and soy free).
These are the results of our taste test:
Hilary's World's Best Veggie Burger:
Very mild flavor, and not too salty. We think the flavors of the grains are more prevalent than the other ingredients. The texture is great. Overall, a good blank canvas for your culinary creativity.
Hilary's Root Veggie Burger:
This is the crumbliest of all the patties we tried from Hilary's. Very light flavors, with chunky root veggie pieces mixed in.
Hilary's Black Rice Burger:
This one has a great combo of flavors, but still very lightly seasoned. Good texture; it would go perfect with just a bit of BBQ sauce.
Hilary's Adzuki Bean Burger:
This patty tastes just like the black rice burger, but you also get the green chili flavor which gives a very light and tasty hint of spice.
Hilary's Hemp and Greens Burger:
The greens really come through, and there is a strong earthy flavor. The texture is a little bit crumbly, but the seasoning is good.
Overall these vegan burgers are light, and not over salted. We baked them in the oven, and we didn't use oil at all (not needed). We like the quality of the ingredients, and that these vegan burgers are not heavy on the tummy. We think the portion sizes are satisfying, perfect for a light meal. Our favorites are the black rice burger, and the adzuki bean burger.
