The art of breadmaking requires skill, dedication, and time. In our fast-paced world, however, we're always looking for ways to save time while still enjoying our favorite dishes. That's where pita bread comes in as a perfect alternative to traditional pizza crust. Not only is it a cost-effective option, but it’s already cooked, thin, and ideal for those who love Neapolitan-style pizza. Pita bread holds up well with toppings, won’t get soggy, and doesn’t need a pizza stone or a high oven temperature.
Ingredients:
-
2 small pita breads
-
4 tablespoons pizza sauce
-
8 artichoke hearts (roasted, jarred, or frozen)
-
6 cherry tomatoes, sliced
-
1 tablespoon capers, drained
-
Olive oil (optional)
-
Dried oregano, to taste
Instructions:
-
Prepare the toppings: Cut the artichoke hearts into smaller pieces (if needed), slice the cherry tomatoes, and drain the capers.
-
Assemble the pizzas: Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the pita breads on top. Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on each pita bread, then evenly distribute the artichokes, tomatoes, and capers between the two.
-
Season: Sprinkle dried oregano over the pizzas and drizzle with olive oil, if desired.
-
Bake: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the pita pizzas for 8-10 minutes, or until the pita is crispy and the toppings are heated through.
